Getting back into it...

So with the Snowpocalypse of 2012, the gym was completely shut down for a week. Not only that but they were actually being used a warming facility for the people on base with no power. So for a week there was no workout on my end. I was completely dreading the gym this week for that purpose. Figured I would be dragging.

Nope.

I actually did better on Monday then I did all the week before. My pace was better. My mileage was better. My MPH was better. I LOVED IT. N did amazing too! We both were feeling amazing leaving there. Who knew that some time off could actually BE beneficial? We are back into it with all speeds going though. I will say this though, I am sleeping much better then I did last week!!

Contemplating joining LA Fitness. Our facility is free so that kinda rocks. But the childcare area is just lame (N has a 1 year old we bring with us), we're always waiting for a machine, the machines are limited (2 treadmills in the "parent" area). LA Fitness is so nice and so many more machines, so many free classes, nicer childcare area, personal trainers. Just overall...better. I don't know though. We are going to go check it out sometime this week and then go from there.

What do you love about your gym? What classes do you take?

I love my gym now, but I have also gone to gyms that I didn't like for one reason or another and it would de-incentify (?) me to go. I think it is really important to go to one you like, even if it costs a little more (as long as you'll get good use out of it). As for classes, I'm not much of a class-goer, but I looooove Body Pump! It's the only thing my current gym doesn't have that I wish it did!

Yeah the base gym is there and its convenient but man, its wearing on me! We have a hard time working out some days cause N's son is completely bored in the childcare area (just a square area with no toys and your child is supposed to be stimulated on his own I guess?) and we end up having to switch off machines. I don't mind that but I think at the Fitness center gym, he'd have more stimulation so wouldn't be fussy you know?

Not a gym goer - I prefer the convenience and comfort of working out with DVDs at home. I know gyms have awesome equipment, but I hate the hassle of having to get ready and go there and sweat with other people and all the fuss.

Great job with your run! I actually have a free membership to a gym that runs out in April that I haven't used because it's a 30 min drive. My husband (Allan) has a gym at work if I just want to get in a workout with weights. We are very fortunate to have an elliptical and treadmill at home and a community center that's a mile away with an indoor track and outdoor walking path.
